Check Out Nearly 20 Minutes Of New Lords Of The Fallen Gameplay

New Game Today:

Lords of the Fallen extended gameplay presentation Dark Souls Soulslike footage

Developer Hexworks and publisher GI Games have released a new extended gameplay presentation for Lords of the Fallen with nearly 20 minutes of new footage.

Lords of the Fallen hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this October, and ahead of the game’s release, Hexworks and CI Games are pulling back the curtain on its dark fantasy world and action RPG combat. In the gameplay presentation, we get a new look at the living realm known as Axiom, where players must traverse harsh and gothic environments to defeat Adyr, the Demon God. However, Axiom isn’t the only concern, as players must also fight through Umbral, the realm of the dead.

“The team at Hexworks is thrilled to finally share an extended gameplay presentation and reveal numerous new details of our dark fantasy action RPG,” head of studio Saul Gascon writes in a press release. “We have passionately carved our own path in this increasingly popular genre, and we are particularly excited to see how players will approach the game’s unique dual-world mechanic when it releases this October.”

CI Games says each area in Lords of the Fallen is “interconnected with at least two others,” meaning your path through Axiom and Umbral could vastly differ from another player’s journey. Players can freely cross between the living realm of Axiom and that of the dead using the Umbral Lamp. But, doing so will use up one of your lives because, at any moment, you essentially have two lives.

In Axiom, you’re transported to Umbral when you die, “automatically resurrected in the exact same spot, albeit in the undead realm, for one final chance to survive,” according to a press release. However, Umbral is the more challenging realm of the two, so survival won’t be easy.

Today’s presentation also revealed how co-op gameplay in Lords of the Fallen will work. CI Games says players need only to visit a vestige, an in-game rest spot, select a friend to play with, or a random player looking to link up in co-op. This player will remain a companion in co-op as long as both players would like.

Lords of the Fallen hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 13.

Lords of the Fallen was previously known as The Lords of the Fallen, its new title after CI Games changed it from Lords of the Fallen 2. It’s had a rocky development history thus far, but with Hexworks taking over development in 2020, the sequel has begun to shape up, and today’s gameplay presentation is a great indicator of that.
