Report: Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 Resumes Filming After More Positive COVID-19 Cases

New Game Today:

After filming was halted once more when yet another round of positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed on set, it looks like the team behind Netflix's The Witcher season 2 is back on set as the show resumes its course set for completion. With four team members, none of the core cast (according to the previous statement), having tested positive for the virus earlier this month, it looks like quarantining worked because everything is back on schedule.

As reported by Redanian Intelligence, a reliable source that has supplied numerous on set photos and details regarding the show's progression, Netflix's The Witcher season 2 resumed filming on November 16 in Arborfield Studios, UK.

While production has picked up once more, season 2 is still reportedly a long ways off from completion given the numerous delays and the work from home orders issued earlier this year. While it's good that the team feels safe enough to be on set once more, this isn't the first round of COVID tests to come back positive. With a production crew and cast, it's difficult to mitigate the level of contact spread that occurs, so hopefully this latest scare will help implement better safety measures for the months ahead.

As for the show itself, Netflix shared the new season's official synopsis earlier last month, saying:

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

We've had first looks at the cast and some of their redesigns, and we've got confirmation that season 2 will be much darker than its predecessor. It will be exciting to see how much has been learned about this vision's evolution, especially seeing how wonderful the armor redesigns look after last year's aesthetic backlash.

The first season of Netflix's The Witcher was met with rave reviews and stunning viewership numbers. Based on the books that inspired the game series from CD Projekt RED, it looks like we'll be getting even more Geralt in our future because Netflix has all but confirmed that season three is already greenlit.
