Equity indices surged on Tuesday with the benchmark BSE sensex soaring nearly 600 points after a stellar show in auto, metal and banking stocks. Sensex gained 582 points or 1.48 per cent to close at 39,832 while the broader NSE Nifty surged 160 points or 1.37 per cent to settle at 11,787.
