The excitement, anxiety and fear is palpable across Assam on the eve of the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC), a document unique to the state, which was first published in 1951 and is being updated for over six years now under the watch of the Supreme Court. The NRC aims to list legal citizens and non-nationals illegally settled in the state.
