Earlier this year Paul Alfonso, a Canadian national, bought two diamond rings of 3.2 carats and 2.5 carats from Nirav Modi which were $200,000 worth. But when the girlfriend went to get the rings insured, the appraiser revealed that the rings were fake and as a result, the couple broke up. Alfonso has now sued Nirav Modi for $4.2 million.
